Academics Our philosophy of
education flows from the Christian belief that each child is created in
God's image and redeemed in Christ. Hence, the administration, faculty,
and staff at Nazareth Academy propose to complement the home, Catholic
Church, and state in giving dignity, direction, and motivation to all
phases of student's lives, and to prepare them spiritually, morally,
intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially to take their
places in American society. We believe that education is a process of
continual growth.
The following subjects are
taught at Nazareth Academy: religion, mathematics, language arts
(English, reading, vocabulary, spelling, creative writing, penmanship),
science, health, art, social studies, physical education, music,
computer literacy, and Spanish. Upper grades are offered elective
courses depending on needs of students and availability of teacher
expertise.
In view of the philosophy
of Nazareth Academy, religion and all that it implies in the life of a
child, is of the utmost importance. One period each day is devoted to
religious instruction. Attendance at weekly Mass, First Fridays, and
Holy Days of obligation is an integral part of the school's religion
program. |
