8th Grade Nativity
Posted
Wednesday, December 14, 2011
Dec. 9, 2011 saw the 8th Grade Class of 2012’s
special presentation of The Gift. This annual production directed by
Nazareth Academy Art Teacher Donna Conti was simply outstanding.
The Gift is a presentation of the nativity
portraying the true meaning of Christmas, when Jesus Christ our
savior was born. The 8th graders put on an incredible performance,
the highlight of which was the return of our good friend and
classmate, Johnny! Johnny has been absent from school since
September, as he underwent correctional surgery for his back. We
have all greatly missed Johnny, and on Dec. 9, without our
knowledge, he marked his return to Victoria and to Nazareth Academy
by making a special appearance at the nativity production! We’re
glad you’re back, Johnny! Prayer does work!

Newton's Cradle
Posted
Monday, December 12, 2011
The 4th Grade divided into groups and created
their own Newton’s Cradles out of string and golf balls!
This science project teaches about “potential”
and “kinetic” energy. When you pull one of the balls up, it has
potential energy. When you let it go and it comes down and strikes
the other ball, it has kinetic energy. Then the energy gets
transferred and the ball goes up on the other side. The ball stops
because of friction. The air goes against the balls and the string.
This was a great project! Thank you, Mrs. Kainer!

KC Fishing Tournament **UPDATE**
Posted
Monday, August 8, 2011
The 9th annual Readin' Ritin' Reelin'
fishing tournament was held Aug. 5th & 6th in Port O'Connor and set
new records in attendance as well as auction-raised funds for
Nazareth Academy. The annual tournament put on by the Knights of
Columbus Holy Family Council #9088 was once again an incredible
success in all areas, and lived up to its recognition as the "Best
Family Fundraising Event in Texas." There is no other group in the
world that works as hard as the Knights of Columbus Holy Family
Council #9088, and words cannot express how grateful Nazareth
Academy is to these Knights.
Funding from this tournament over the past 9 years has played roles
in key developments and improvements in our school, including the
creation and maintenance of the school's computer lab for students,
the purchase of SMART boards for every classroom 1st through 8th
grade, the purchase of an electronic security system with key fob
doors and security cameras to keep our children safe, a new fire
alarm system, RenWeb online database for parents to check their
children's grades and schedules, and an air conditioned bus.
Thank you, Knights, for adopting Nazareth Academy and helping us to
be able to continue to provide a quality Catholic education for our
children!
